00:01.30 archpodnet Hi everyone welcome back? Um I'm just going to jump back a little bit to something Chris had said in the first segment which was about like he liked certain comedy shows um that you could basically just turn off to um and you know. I have a couple of those I figure I'd just share and I'll throw it out to Andrew and heather to see which ones you guys have um but I'd say like some good go to comedy ones I like I can rewatch so like um and it helps you know sometimes it's more actually when I'm doing work I could just put something on the background as well. Um, ones are like like a really good sort of light one that I think was really funny um was Chuck I don't know if you guys ever watched that? um I I cannot recommend it enough like it's obviously like it was a. 00:43.21 Andrew Now. 00:54.38 archpodnet A time where it's closer to like the sort of older city count sitcom not high budget sort of things. Um, but it's a very light um people doing good um not taking itself too serious, but just. Pretty general I think it walks a nice line between it does have a few serious moments where you get to connect with the characters and feel emotional but it's not like say I dont know like ah a big bang where there there's never really ah a serious wow now I stopped watching after a couple of seasons but there was never actually a really serious episode but um. Yeah I'd have to say like Chuck is a pretty good one for like comedies um parks and rec I also like as well. Um, if I'm recommending things to people. Ah, one of those ones where maybe you skip the first season. Um I kind of feel like there's actually a lot of a lot of Tv shows I recommend but I'm like. Yeah, guys you should watch this but just like start in season 2 after they've kind of figured out everything and got their um, got their footing. Um I find that with a lot shows. It. It takes a little while um to really actually sort of develop characters. It's it's really weird because you. 01:59.93 Andrew Um, right. 02:08.30 archpodnet You watch a show and like the first season usually has nothing to do with what develops after like they they decide to change characters and um, there's usually like they put in a lot of conflict for some reason I find in a lot of like um first seasons even of comedies where people like hate each other. Um, but really, you're looking for like that those ultimate more friendship ones for the so relaxed, but what? well there shows you guys have where yourre sort of zone out comedies. 02:39.24 Andrew Oh zone out comedy. Um I recently I really like murders in the building but that's not even zone out exactly. But it's funny although it's so Steve Martin and Martin short. Um. 02:45.00 Heather March pretended healthy. 02:53.23 Andrew But it's on hulu so I and I do think as we talk about this you know the new world of where shows go. It's going to depend what if you're out there in the field. You know what you have on your phone like oh man I have Hbo Max but I don't have you know ah pick another you know I don't have hulu I don't have Disney. Yeah, so it's gonna depend but I like merge in the building I think I like Ted Lasso Ted Lasso was pretty funny. That's that's a fairly new one which I believe is god I can't see I can't remember if it's yeah, is it. It's Amazon. 03:25.40 archpodnet Amazon it's Amazon. Yeah, well so also like murder in the buildings I like as well. But um, we we get it on Disney over here. It's also one of those things where um, it's it's a bit tough sometimes like they'll be like. 03:35.40 Andrew Um, yes. 03:43.24 archpodnet American shows that we can't just get. We have to sort of pirate online. Um, or we just have to wait for like six months um and then it comes to one of the many bajillion streaming services that that are out there. Um, but yeah, so yeah guys. 03:54.70 Andrew Um. 03:57.84 Andrew Right. 04:02.72 archpodnet I mean I think Amazon's universal for all their shows because they want to be they want to conquer the world. But for most everywhere else? Yeah, um, it's going to be all mixed up and I'm sure like people in Canada don't have the same platforms. 04:08.52 Andrew Um, me. 04:14.55 Andrew Right? Yeah, exactly. So Maybe we'll just go with the understanding that hey these are all on all different kind of platforms. You know it's just stuff that we tend to like um, but yeah, that's about that's about what I have for. Comedies. It's it's funny I as I made a at my list of stuff I tend to watch I'm I'm kind of a dark person. That's what I've learned. Ah, yeah. 04:37.50 archpodnet And. 04:39.80 Heather Ah, you know I think that people have it's turned that way I mean in the in the 80 s and 90 s like most of the Tv shows were more the eighty s were were comedies even if they were just family sitcoms that were still you know with comedians and. 04:48.17 Andrew Yeah. 04:48.99 archpodnet You. 04:56.22 Andrew Um. 04:56.61 Heather So I that is kind of you know that's where we grew up so that's kind of what's comfortable for us I have for me I'd like standup comedy so I don't really I do watch like I watch I like I really like Seinfeld and. 05:01.99 Andrew Um, right. 05:13.76 Heather Kind of the old mainstays I like dip and time show the old old I know ah I as really old. Um, and I'm not that old everybody but but I was raised my my. 05:16.20 Andrew Home and. Yeah. 05:28.15 Heather By my grandparents and so my style I think I it kind of skipped a generation what was being imparted to me by my by my parents was my grandparents but for me I've just kind of I stumble across ah goes into my feed or different comedians New comedians. 05:29.84 Andrew Um, am so. 05:35.93 Andrew Then. 05:45.89 Heather And some are like some I don't like and this my new one is Sebastian Meneskalco I think is how you say his name but he's a very like New York he really plays up the New York and I let my my husband's from Philly and he's very Philly and and he's a very funny guy. My my husband and. 05:52.62 Andrew Ah. 05:59.30 Andrew Over. 06:04.64 Heather And so I like that. Um and this guy's hilarious I mean he's just he just really plays up that that East Coast new yorker um and just that view of looking at life from that lens and so I think he's hilarious. So for me, it's more of a stand up comedy thing that I listen to. 06:22.18 Andrew Um, yeah, know that that makes a lot of sense from it's funny as I look at my list of darkness like I realize that I do like you do heather a lot of times I'll watch Tv like a night you know, but but I I want something sort of chunky. So if I'm out there. 06:23.23 Heather Or watch. Yep. 06:34.98 Heather Um, yeah. 06:39.25 Andrew Like you know, staying at the motel 6 in the middle of nowhere on my monitoring job that I'm on for six months you know I think at the end of the night what I would want to do is like go go back to my hotel take a shower and then watch something like breaking bad like breaking bad is my favorite show of all time. Ah. It's one I've watched multiple times you know and and also ah oh sorry, just one I do I do like better call saul. That's a great show too but break breaking bad to like like the. 06:58.55 Heather Yeah, it's good. How but do you like the saw one what I forgot the name something call Salt Thank you? yeah. 07:10.27 Andrew The awful hotel that's in breaking bad where like the all the hookers are in the math. It's I was on a CRMGig yeah I was like I stayed at this hotel. Yeah, so you can you can sort of have a closeness to it. 07:13.12 Heather Yeah, been there and there done that. Ah yeah, relate. Yeah. 07:18.57 archpodnet Well, although I've actually been to that hotel I mean that's this that that show has helped like my life so much being in like a foreign country because people will be like oh where you from. 07:31.76 Andrew Ah. 07:34.39 archpodnet And then like you know after we get past that whole like Canadian American I'll be like american um, and they're like oh we're in America it used to be like New Mexico which then people about 30% of times got confused and like oh Mexico yes yes I've I've been to Cancun I was like no not that Mexico. 07:37.18 Andrew Um, right. 07:41.91 Andrew Yeah. 07:50.39 Heather If yeah, yeah. 07:51.12 Andrew Um. 07:54.36 archpodnet Um, but thanks to breaking bad I can be like yeah you know his high school that was my high school though literally they they filmed the outside of the the high school it was the high school I went to um, but the inside was filmed at a different high school. But yeah, like so actually I've that that ah the the Hooker hotel. 07:59.41 Andrew Wow right. 08:01.89 Heather No way Oh how funny. 08:14.20 archpodnet Um, is on central um, and in Albuquerque. Um, yeah, so I so I actually really like that show as well. Um, but it has also helped my life like to no end being able to be like New Mexico you guys know breaking bad and like 90% of the time people do. 08:21.35 Andrew Are. 08:30.66 Heather Sure Yep yeah when I'm in I was just gonna say when I'm in a hotel. My thing is I I'll watch channels that I don't I'm not willing to pay for at home So that I'd like to. 08:30.74 Andrew Um, yeah, that's awesome. 08:33.47 archpodnet And um, it helps so much to be able to explain where where I'm from but Andrew do you want to? oh sorry. 08:47.18 Andrew Fuck right. 08:50.44 Heather Ah, flip through and for me Also I think I go through stages of interests like when the Queen passed away I was until these you know Royal shows and explaining about the Royal family and everything it just kind of went down that hole for a little while and that was fun and and then you know you have like. 09:04.80 Andrew Right. 09:09.99 Heather During December Seventh um or veterans day or whatever and you get all the world war two shows and then you know I'll look at the history and I just I love history I can't get enough of it. That's just my thing so no. 09:13.33 Andrew Totally. 09:22.15 archpodnet I I was actually ah I was just about to ask? ah Angie to take us to the darkness. But um, before that I was actually going to see so I mean with smart Tvs Now we also watched like a lot of Youtube um, because you you now have like content makers who do. 09:23.75 Andrew Um, yeah, oh yeah. 09:33.80 Andrew Yeah. 09:33.11 Heather A. 09:39.70 archpodnet A pretty decent um job of like going through Wikipedia and then turning that into a video. Um I exaggerate a little bit but not much. Um, but yeah, there's there's some good ones on there that um like I enjoy we sort of enjoy as a family which are like ah the company man. Um, which he basically just looks at the history of companies. Um, mainly in the us. Um, yeah, you, you just find out some really random stuff and then you also kind of figure out why like certain hotel or restaurant chains. You never see anymore. Um, it's because they went. 09:58.75 Andrew Huh. 10:04.29 Heather That's cool. 10:14.10 Andrew Right. 10:14.16 Heather Yeah. 10:15.16 archpodnet Bankrupt or got bought out stuff like that. But yeah, his is pretty interesting. Um, there's ah, a show that's like 3 levels of cooks which is like your amateur cook your sort of semi like your your cook who likes to actually cook and like a professional cook. Um, and you see them. Take 1 dish and make it 3 different ways and that's that's pretty nice. Um, and I mean there's a lot of deep dive ones on um on shows like you know what happened with ah this person's career. What happened with this tv show or this movie would be pretty good. Um, and. 10:48.16 Andrew Right. 10:53.11 archpodnet I mean we used to watch I used to like it was like honest trailers which ah you know, ah really like 2 minutes but um yeah they're pretty good but they kind of went downhill but we watch a ah new one which is like pitch meeting which is this guy and he plays both characters which is like. 10:56.72 Andrew Yeah I've seen that. 11:09.77 archpodnet The scriptw writer or the person pitching and then like ah a movie exec and they they just sort of make fun of movies he like and they they they they point out like obvious plot holes and in the stuff and they're like are we going to address that is like nope. Moving on and it's just kind of funny stuff like that. Um I enjoy. 11:28.60 Andrew Right now you know on Youtube I just watch King Kela teaches archeology like all the time on endless loop. It's so great. Yeah, that's all me that's all me ah, just ah, constantly. But yeah, no. 11:34.00 Heather That's why you have so many views. Ah, no surprise. 11:41.32 Andrew I love I love the Youtube thing too. We you know what? it's fun to go down any rabbit holes on stuff. You really love like I I like working on guitars. So I watch like guitar videos all the time I probably do that a lot but um, in terms of bringing bringing us to the darkness. Um, ah. 11:48.78 Heather Yeah. 11:56.43 Heather Darks. Yes, yes, everybody's waiting. Do it know it. 11:58.95 Andrew I would say yeah waiting with bated breath. We yeah Heather you already brought up some of the war movies I I have watched band of brothers like 10 times. Um I've watched the pacific like 10 times and these are these are series that have like 10 episodes and they're they're. 12:08.54 Heather Yeah, yeah, ah yeah. 12:18.70 Andrew Like historical I mean they're they're very historical I don't even want call them historical fiction I mean they they talk about the real people in these instances and I just think those are amazing if you want a real deep dive if you like I love the vietnam war by Ken Burns 12:22.28 Heather Right. 12:35.55 Heather Oh I've watched part. But yeah, yeah, Ken Burns is great though. Yeah, yeah, yeah. 12:37.81 Andrew That's like yeah, it's like did it's like a 10 part. You know this is when each part's like an hour or however long they are but good god that will that will shatter your soul the Vietnam war and especially you know so many of us still. Like my uncle was in Vietnam you know I I know people who are of that era and had those personal experiences and just when you have seen personally what that can do to shatter a family. You know you're like oh my god the vietnam war is a masterpiece. Um. 12:54.68 Heather A. 13:05.66 Heather Yes, yeah. 13:13.65 Andrew So that's that's my my my true sort of darkness kind of stuff I would also just recommend on my list mad men which is a really kind of show with a lot going. You know if you love the 50 s you don't like mad men. 13:16.40 Heather Yeah. 13:24.50 Heather Yeah, so. 13:26.20 archpodnet Boom Boom No actually this is a a huge fight between my wife and I she she thinks it's It's the greatest show. Um, that's ever existed and they say you're correct. 13:30.44 Andrew Well, she's right. 13:37.90 Andrew She's correct. Yeah yeah and I have to say on top of it I I also have a film degrees I was a double major in archeology in film. So anything I say is correct. You know? Yeah yeah. 13:37.30 Heather Um, I Really like his show I like the show and it's funny that that you don't like it and she likes it. That's interesting. 13:41.55 archpodnet Ah, yeah. 13:52.32 archpodnet Next. 13:54.99 Andrew So ah, yeah, no admin is the second greatest show of all time behind breaking bad. ah ah yeah you you got it. You got it? ah. 14:00.46 archpodnet See it's weird I can agree with I can agree with your first choice. But that second no man like it. No, she's tried. She's tried so many times to explain how ah how great it is and I'm just like like I can I can. 14:09.49 Andrew Um I. 14:16.30 archpodnet I Can enjoy a nice slow show that sort of builds and has a little tension here and and so I just it. It didn't I couldn't I couldn't I couldn't. 14:21.56 Heather You know this reminds me this reminds me of so I watched 19 either 1886 or 1883 whatever the show is that's like the prequel to Yellowstone right? I loved it. It went a little squirrely at the end but I really liked that show a lot. 14:23.37 Andrew Ah, yeah. 14:29.24 Andrew Um, yeah, yeah. 14:40.63 Heather Um I related to it I have ah my um, you know ancestors that that took that exact same route and everything and and so I've done some genealogical research on it and really enjoy you know, seeing these kinds of things and it was I felt like I was watching my greatre great grandmother do this right. 14:58.00 Andrew For me. 14:59.36 Heather But then I watch yellowstone and no matter how hard I try just cannot get into that show and everybody loves it and I'm like ah it's just it's too slow. It's I Just can't get into it. It's I feel bad but I just can but you know it was. 15:08.63 Andrew That's so funny. Yeah, it's it's personal taste That's okay, it's ok, ah. 15:16.68 archpodnet I. 15:17.54 Heather Was going to say I have a dark thing too. So we got I've mentioned you a couple times we have a sailboat and I but bought a sailboat and did not know how to sail. So but so my husband is actually not that a big fan of water. Um, which is kind of a problem but he was very supportive of me buying the boat. 15:25.91 Andrew Right. 15:36.94 Andrew Um, that is yeah um. 15:37.16 Heather And so he'll go out and party on it. It's his party apartment but he won't go out in the water with me and he has this like deal that he makes me watch these ah boating disaster shows So we and now I've actually started enjoying them. 15:49.30 Andrew Oh God yeah. 15:56.90 Heather Um, and so that's what we watch a lot of times is what's like whatever kind of show a documentary any kind of weird show a movie anything that depicts what the worst things that could go wrong while you're out in the seas and so. 16:13.89 Andrew Ah. 16:15.52 Heather So that's our dark. That's that's our dark watch. 16:17.74 archpodnet What. 16:17.94 Andrew Right? Ah, that's a good you know I have I have one more that is archeologically adjacent a show that I Love it's called reservation dogs and it's it's young people on the reservation and I I Just think it's a fantastic ah the scripts are great like it's. 16:25.29 Heather Oh. 16:34.80 Andrew It's so current. You know? and um, when you work in in archeology and you work with native groups so often too. You will get a bunch of the in jokes which is really really fun. You know, ah from the archeology side of things that that show is is killer. So funny. It's ah it's funny and and and tragic at the same time I can't recommend that 1 highly enough reservation dogs. 16:59.70 archpodnet Yeah, we just finished it. Um and actually it kind of felt a bit like it was really nice to watch a show that's sort of felt like home because you know, um where I was at was just basically surrounded by reservations and yeah, there's some jokes I'm pretty sure people just won't understand. Um. 17:06.56 Andrew Um. 17:12.12 Andrew Yeah. 17:15.67 archpodnet And probably have to like I'm sure there's websites that will tell you everything you need to know about it. But that is a great show. Um. 17:19.00 Andrew You hear. 17:21.36 Heather I'll ask if it like a brother. He's a friend that's like a brother to me that lives on the Navajo reservation and I wonder if he's watched that I've heard of it though I haven't seen it huh. 17:31.33 archpodnet It's It's actually brilliantly written as well. Um, it's um, all native cast. All all native writers all native crew I believe as well. Um, and yeah, it's It's a it's quite a. It's quite a great show. Great show. Yeah. 17:36.75 Heather Hey cool. 17:45.32 Heather A. 17:45.56 Andrew It's Killer Super creative too like just it's one of my faves. 17:49.57 archpodnet Yeah, yeah, um I was actually going to say like if if we're doing semi archeology adjacent and this is probably my shame show. Um, but you know a show I really could enjoy and just put on the background any of the stargates. like like I I'm sorry Andrew I know you you got the ah pseudo archeology ah podcast. Um, but I can just like turn off like all that nonsense. Um and just enjoy it as a sort of light fun. Um sci-fi show. 18:10.44 Andrew Um. 18:14.89 Andrew Yeah, but why not I What's so funny is like people might think that because I do the suitudor archeology Podcast I'm totally cool with all that stuff I'm I'm happy to enjoy that kind of stuff. You know what? I mean. 18:27.77 Heather So she would end as long as you admit that what it it is what it is right? exactly? yeah. 18:28.86 archpodnet Are. 18:33.47 Andrew Yeah, yeah, it's as long as it's not on the history channel you know shown as this is the truth. No I Love that kind of stuff I love it. You know? yeah. 18:38.96 Heather Right? Pick fun of itself. Yeah I so I have to it's not archeology adjacent but I have to and like these things are starting pop in my head. It's been a little while since I've watched it but I went into this so I'm a hockey person. Actually my first career was in hockey. So. Ah, Letter Kenny and Trailer Park Boys those are if if you like hockey talk about something that's like self-deprecating really funny from somebody who understands hockey. It's still a fun They're fun comedy shows or Canadian but those 2 shows I love and I could. Watch him over and over again. 19:17.15 archpodnet It's a great way to bond with like Canadians If you just mentioned Trailer park fours like maybe just youre like oh my God You were my best friend day and you just gotta be like how a Bo those. Ah um. 19:19.27 Heather Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, how do you know about that? Yeah yeah. 19:31.70 archpodnet Killer Park boys and then yeah, you've made a friend for life. Ah, do you guys have any other of your sort of guilty pleasure shows before we wrap this up. Yeah. 19:32.35 Heather Right. 19:38.36 Heather My guilty pleasure guilty pleasure. Yeah yeah. 19:42.78 Andrew Um, I'm pretty good. 19:45.71 archpodnet Oh yeah, sure Andrew I open up about stargate and then you're like oh no no I'm I'm good yeah. yeah 19:47.54 Andrew Yeah, never did myself. Never. 19:51.38 Heather Well Indiana Jones that's that's a guilty I mean like I could watch those over and over again I don't care what people say but those are just pure fun. So I guess like Indiana Jones would be a guilty pleasure. 20:01.20 Andrew Right now I'm dude. That's yeah, no I Love all that kind of stuff like I'll watch whatever you know like low. Oh um, I watch that boat show like on the Mediterranean Whatever it is the um below decks. Below. There's a guilty pleasure below Deck Mediterranean that show is horrible, but but I I put it on like well that's when I put on while I'm doing work. You know that's just like a bunch of young people on on a boat you know and it's like all the shenanigans. 20:21.41 Heather I'm attacked. 20:36.39 Heather There. 20:37.94 Andrew Like oh my God I can't believe that christopher is sleeping with the lease. It's that kind of stuff. Yeah. 20:42.85 Heather Oh oh is it like okay so is it like what's the um, the housewives like spinoffs. There's been. What is oh my good. Okay, this really funny story. Really really quick I promise. So so. 20:47.50 Andrew Um, yes, it's that. 20:57.70 Heather We were um oh my gosh. It's a spinoff from Vander Hoofs and it's about a bar and it's sir sir it. It's the show is called sir anyway I think it's still on. But anyway, it's a reality show and we went in and my husband's like he from Philly we just he just moved here for us to be together and he's like. Let's um, let's go there. It be really fun. So we go there and it's literally I mean it's in the height of the show and the place is packed and it's right by the Abey which is a ah gay bar in in la. It's very close to it anyway. So we we walk in and it is literally. There's 15 people back from the bar or more. Maybe. 21:25.20 Andrew Ah, yeah. 21:34.86 Heather And so I go up and I'm like this is ah this is ridiculous. So anyway. So I go over to this guy wearing black He's kind of a bouncer. Whatever and I ask him hey how do I get in there and not have to wait. You know he goes he looks at me and he looks at my husband and he says no problem. Don't worry about it and he goes and sits us at the best table in the house and I'm like that's. Really weird. You know, like all these people and he literally clears this table off and has a sit down and we're sitting there and stasi and ah ah Jacks are the 2 like main characters they're like work they're serving us they're they actually work there and we're like blown away. So this was right. 21:55.64 Andrew Stuff right. 22:13.88 Heather After the ah Kings won their first stanley cup and my husband ah works for professional hockey leagues or at the time he did and he had a allstar ring like a big allster ring that looked just like the king's championship ring that the players were after they won and. 22:28.62 Andrew And. 22:31.39 Heather Whole day or the whole night we were like literally being waited on. We had free drinks. We were waited on like King and queen it was so weird and then all of a sudden we realized they thought we were part of the Kings organization I guess and anyway so that was that's a guilty pleasure are those kind of silly like sir. 22:49.21 Andrew Right? right? Yes and and actually for me those are guilty pleasures because I truly can tune out and do my work for a while because it's okay, you miss half an hour whatever you know what's happening you know. 22:51.13 Heather Um, Sir or desperate help. So I've just like train wreck you have to watch him but that. 23:02.66 Heather Yeah, yeah, and it's just yeah, it's just fun of fun nothingness. 23:08.70 Andrew Yeah, right? so. 23:08.79 archpodnet So to so somewhat end sorry just thinking about our conversation. So a great show that was cut down in its prime and by prime I think only got like a season I really hate when like great shows do that but did you guys ever watch. Don't trust the be in apartment 23 oh 23:18.81 Andrew Yeah, totally now. 23:24.64 Heather No, never heard of it. Don't trust the B in writing it. Oh. 23:28.57 archpodnet Ah, well because it only lasted like a season. Yeah, well, it's it's don't they scratched out. Don't trust the bitch and yeah, um, and ah but I think because it was on network tv they scratched it out so it's don't trust to be um in apartment 23 absolutely one of the. 23:39.36 Heather Okay. 23:45.60 archpodnet Best comedies it was great, but there's um was an episode where where the main character. Well one of the main characters Chloe who's ah the girlfriend from breaking bad. Um, Jesse's girlfriend um yeah who's also Jessica became Jessica Jones I can't remember the actress's name. Um. 23:54.36 Heather Oh yeah. 24:03.68 archpodnet But like she decides like every Halloween to basically destroy someone's life. Um, and one of the people they do a montage of why she chooses these people and one of the people she destroys side destroy their life is like this guy's just like what you've never watched the wire.
